Candidates, nonprofits, marches and protests, all of our attempts at political change have failed. It’s a good feeling to march and chant with like-minded people, or attend a meeting full of powerful supporters, or a win a hard fought election campaign, but NONE of these have gotten your legislation passed, if you even had any written.
Only legislation changes our laws. You must write it up and get it voted on to succeed. The problems must first be researched and studied. Then the solutions must be crafted, with all the interactions and conflicts figured out. Then all the legalese must be correctly worded as in The Valentine Constitution. Then you must have a legal mechanism like ratification for a vote, and a forum like a convention to bring it to a vote, and enough votes to secure passage.
The mother of all legislation is a constitution. When so many issues have been put off for so long, and so much legislation is needed, and so many votes are required to get it passed, an all-inclusive deal is needed to unite reasonable people unreasonably divided by corruption. The Valentine Constitution is just such a deal, and it comes just in time.
